General Club Meeting Minutes |

FERNLEY GOLF CLUB
March 5, 2008
President John Angleson called the meeting to order at 3:35 PM. A quorum of over 1/3 of the members was present.
We now have 58 members, 26 Regular and 32 Associate. The Bank balance is $2733.77 The minutes of the Meeting February 13, 2008 were approved as distributed.
Larry Reagan made a motion that the proposed revisions to the Fernley Golf Club Constitution and By-Laws, which sets up a Board of Directors and adds two alternates to the Board, be approved. Juneil Key seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
President Angleson asked for nominations for the two alternates to the Board. Drake Robles made a motion, seconded by Harold Wood to nominate Juneil Key. Jim Key made a motion seconded by Harold Wood to nominate Mel Hall. Jim Peterson made a motion, seconded by Rod Love that the nominations be closed. President Angleson called for the vote. Juneil Key and Mel Hall were elected unanimously as alternates to the Board of Directors. |

March 5, 2008
The Board of Directors met immediately following the General Meeting. Present were John Angleson President, Doug Perry Vice President, Ellen Reagan Secretary-Treasurer, Jim Peterson Handicap Chairman, Bob Ely Membership Chairman and Drake Robles Tournament Chairman. Alternates Juneil Key and Mel Hall were also present.
The existing Rules of Play were discussed. The Board reaffirmed and unanimously accepted the rule added on February 13, 2008 that “All men will play form the White Tees and all women from the Red Tees in Club competition. Don Boyle as the “Committee” per USGA Rules can grant a medical exemption for men playing the white tees and increase their handicap accordingly.”
The following rule adopted on 9/1/04 will be deleted as it does not follow USGA rules; “In the future we will be 1) allowed to lift and drop balls out of holes in the rough and 2) we can rake and place balls in the bunkers”
Jim Peterson made a motion seconded by Ellen Reagan that there be awards for two holes for K.P.s, rotating between holes 7, 11, 14 and 16. These awards will be open to both men and women. Motion passed unanimously.
Jim Peterson made a motion seconded by Doug Perry that summer rules shall govern all year and the wording in Rule 7 allowing winter rules be deleted. Motion passed unanimously.
Jim Peterson made a motion seconded by Bob Ely that the following wording in Rule 13 be deleted “Handicaps will be adjusted according to USGA rules for players competing from different tees”. Rule 13 will now read “Ladies playing in mixed events currently have one additional stroke of handicap. Motion passed unanimously.
Drake Robles brought up the request that the Men’s Club schedule be included on our website, (www.fernleygolfclub.com.) After discussion, Bob Ely made a motion seconded by Jim Peterson that we post the schedules of both the Men’s and Women’s clubs and accept any voluntary contribution towards the cost of our website. Motion passed unanimously.
Meeting was adjourned at 4:10 PM.

FERNLEY GOLF CLUB
BOARD MEETING April 2, 2008
President John Angleson called the meeting to order at 2:55 PM.
We now have 63 members, 27 Regular and 36 Associate. The Bank balance is $2883.77 The minutes of the Meeting March 5, 2008 were approved as distributed.
Present were John Angleson President, Doug Perry Vice President, Ellen Reagan Secretary-Treasurer, Bob Ely Membership Chairman and Mel Hall Alternate Board Member. Absent were Jim Peterson and Drake Robles.
The Men’s Club is going to contribute to the cost of our Website and the Women’s Club will be asked to contribute next week. The suggested amount is 1/3 of the cost each or $29 each club.
The problem of seed shells being spit out on the course, especially the greens was discussed. The golf shop verified that they do not sell these seeds. PLEASE, PLEASE BE COURTEOUS AND DO NOT SPIT PUMPKIN AND SUNFLOWER SHELLS ON THE COURSE.
John Angleson reported on the NNGA spring meeting. Please be aware of the new USGA rules of golf for 2008. The Northern California Golf Association has offered membership to any our members for $25, as long as they are a member of another association the have their GHIN number through that association.
The Fernley Women’s Golf Club is sponsoring a rules seminar on Tuesday, April 29th at 2:30 PM at the Clubhouse. The seminar will be presented by Steve Rydel of the NNGA and is open to all golfers. Please plan to attend.
Bob Ely made a motion, seconded by Ellen Reagan that Rule #2 of the 2008 Fernley Golf Club Rules of Play concerning scramble handicaps is deleted as written and the following wording be substituted as recommended by the USGA: Scramble Handicaps for a 4 Person Scramble shall be set up 20% for “A” player, 15% for “B” Player, 10% for “C” player and 5% for “D” player. Scramble Handicaps for a 2 Person Scramble shall be set up 35% for “A” player and 15% for “B” player. Motion passed unanimously.

BOARD MEETING May 7, 2008
President John Angleson called the meeting to order at 2:05 PM.
We now have 66 members, 28 Regular and 38 Associate. The Bank balance is $1949.37 The minutes of the Meeting April 2, 2008 were approved as distributed.
Present were John Angleson President, Ellen Reagan Secretary-Treasurer, Jim Peterson Handicap Chairman, Drake Robles Tournament Chairman and Juneil Key Alternate Board Member. Absent were Bob Ely and Doug Perry.
John Angleson brought up the fact that we as a Club do not have a committee as defined by the USGA, PER APPENDIX I, PART A: LOCAL RULES:CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION. After discussion, it was decided to have a committee that represents all three clubs. The following people are on the committee; Bill Slade representing the Men’s Club, Jim Peterson representing the Wednesday Mixed Club, Ellen Reagan representing the Women’s Club, Jim Adelman member at large and Don Boyle Club Professional. The committee will tour the course and make recommendations to be brought back to each club, and then a set of Local Rules will be developed.
Meeting was adjourned at 2:20 PM.

GENERAL MEETING October 1, 2008
President John Angleson called the meeting to order at 2 PM. A quorum of over 25% of the members was present. The following officers were present, John Angleson President, Ellen Reagan Secretary-Treasurer, Bob Ely Membership Chairman, Drake Robles Tournament Chairman and Mel Hall, Alternate.
Ellen Reagan reported that we now have 71 members, 28 Regular and 43 Associate. The Bank balance is $784.40 with only the expense of engraving plaques and a Hole in One trophy to be paid for before the end of the year.
The Nominating committee has put forth the following slate of officers for 2009. President – John Angleson Vice President – Doug Perry Secretary/Treasurer – Ellen Reagan Handicap Chairman – Jim Peterson Membership Chairman – Bob Ely Tournament Co-Chairman – Fred Wahlgren and Jim Peterson
Motion was made by Bob Ely and seconded by Drake Robles to elect the above slate of officers for 2009. Motion passed unanimously.
Keith Swearingen suggested that the Board reduce the number of play days required in order to be eligible to play in the Club Championship. President Angleson agreed to bring it up at the next Board meeting.
Several members requested John Hughes to arrange to have the greens mowed prior to the championship tournament next year and also that the Golf Course move the pins for each day of play.
Meeting was adjourned at 2:15 PM.
